Houston, TX – April 22, 2015 – In its heyday, the Eldorado Ballroom was a cornerstone of the Third Ward community. It played host to countless blues and jazz performances as well as black social clubs, sock hops, and afternoon talent shows and was truly a staple of life in Houston’s Third Ward. Today, the Ballroom remains an active site in the community, regularly hosting art performances, weddings, parties, and concerts. Among these events, LIVE at the Eldorado, a fundraising concert series, seeks to restore the status of the Ballroom while revitalizing the spirit of the space.
Joining past performers Milton Hopkins, Jewel Brown, and Andre Hayward in this rich tradition, Gisele Duque brings an eclectic style to the stage, blending tropicalia, latin jazz, funk, soul, and rock n’ roll with charisma as fervent as Brazil’s Carnival. Duque takes to the stage Saturday, June 6 at 7pm.
