Higher Sails is a public art project, led by PRH/Core artist in residence Ronny Quevedo, involving teenagers and Third-Ward businesses.
Focusing on the role of exchange, dreams and oral history, Higher Sails explores how local aspirations can be presented through the renovation of urban landmarks. Ranging from store signage to menus, teens will lead design projects displayed at various business sites.
- Participants will learn typography, screen-printing and other aspects of sign making. Working with Third Ward businesses, students create and fabricate designs developed in class.
- Participants will generate a visual style guide for store signage designs that incorporate quotes from interviews, newly created typefaces, poster compositions and artist visits. Higher Sails will culminate as useful signs at their respective sites and as an exhibition at Project Row Houses.
NO EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED.
