Letter from our Founding Director

About 25 years ago, I encountered 22 abandoned shotgun-style homes from the 1930s. I was volunteering for SHAPE at the time, and they had invited me on a tour of the Third Ward with some officials from the city. Around this time, I had also been meeting with a group of other African- American artists on a regular basis to discuss how we as artists could have a positive impact on this historic community. Those artists were James Bettison, Bert Long, Jr., Jesse Lott, Floyd Newsum, Bert Samples, and George Smith.  – Rick Lowe

Letter from our Executive Director

Last year was an incredible year for Project Row Houses, and 2018 marks a monumental occasion for our organization, our 25th Anniversary! We have so much to celebrate as we continue our work in this historic community, and see this milestone as an important opportunity to pause, take stock, and renew our vision for the future. - Eureka Gilkey
