Join us on International Jazz Heritage Day! Artist Tierney Malone will speak about his work for the construction fence, which celebrates the history and legacy of jazz in Third Ward and at the Eldorado Ballroom. Legendary performer Jewel Brown will share her memories of the Eldorado’s earlier years. We’ll also welcome several key visionaries and champions of the Eldorado rehabilitation and Third Ward revitalization.
After the program, please stay and visit the businesses on our site. Artist Round 53: The Critical Case of Curious Race…Theory? will open early at 11am in the Art Houses on Holman Street. Do not miss the chance to see this incredible installation.
The event will be outdoors, with some seating available. The site is at ground level in the asphalt parking lot. Please wear appropriate shoes and be mindful that we are adjacent to a construction site. We will have accessible portable toilets.
Emancipation Park is hosting a major event over the weekend, so the streets and sidewalks will be busy. We encourage you to walk, bike, or ride transit to the site, but if you drive, please leave time to find parking south of the Emancipation and Elgin intersection. Please do not block residents’ driveways or businesses’ parking lots.
The event will be held rain or shine unless we have dangerous weather, but the Farmers’ Almanac has promised a beautiful day in the Tré!
