In the Round 53 installation She asked her mother… Chicago based artist Leah Ra’Chel Gipson invites you to experience a sound and archive-based installation with performances for The Black Girlhood Altar, an interactive, community altar that began in Chicago with collaborators, Scheherazade Tillet and Robert Narciso. The closing concert for the installation welcomes community offerings (objects that hold meaning and positive energy) for The Black Girlhood Altar. These offerings will be collected for the traveling altar project and also given as donations for Black women and girls to a Houston-based survivor-led, anti-trafficking organization.
