Tragedy struck Houston’s beloved Winter Street Studios on December 20, 2022, when a devastating fire ravaged the artistic haven. The aftermath left countless artists and businesses grieving the loss of their studios, cherished artworks, equipment, and personal belongings. This catastrophe prompted Houston’s art community to rally together and support the affected artists in their recovery journey.
In collaboration with Project Row Houses and Sawyer Yards, we proudly present “Still Working: After the Fire.” This installation stands as a tribute to the artists and makers of Winter Street Studios, offering a platform to showcase artworks from those directly impacted by the fire. It is a poignant reminder that while the fire brought stillness, it also ignited a powerful call to action within our community to support one another through the best and hardest moments of the artistic journey.
