I was introduced to Project Row Houses in 2004 upon being accepted into the MFAH Core Program. At that time, the Core and PRH collaborated to create a joint residency, and I was the first artist to benefit from this partnership. This opportunity afforded me the privilege of living in PRH ‘XS House’ on Stewart Street for 2 years. During that time I formed lasting friendships with artists and neighborhood residents; relationships that I continue to treasure. 

During the initial months of my stay in Houston I was granted an exhibition space in one of PRH’s shotgun houses. The piece that I showed was one of my first art installations. In retrospect, this exhibition was a transformative moment in my practice. I say this firmly when assessing recent ideas and the type of materials that I use. I believe that many aspects of my current studio work can be traced back to the 2 years that I spent making art and living at PRH.
