Curating “Prospect New Orleans”

Tuesday, June 25, 2019
6:30 p.m.- 8:00 p.m.

Law Building
1001 Bissonnet Street
Houston, TX 77005

Presented by Naima J. Keith, vice president of education and public programs at LACMA; and Diana Nawi, a Los Angeles–based independent curator

The MFAH and Project Row Houses team up for an inside look at the contemporary-art triennial “Prospect New Orleans.” Prospect.5 co-curators Naima J. Keith and Diana Nawi visit Houston to discuss the process of curating such a large-scale, citywide exhibition.

“Prospect New Orleans” presents art by local, national, and international artists in both traditional and highly unexpected environments, emphasizing collaborative partnerships and site-specificity. The experience of “Prospect” invites residents and visitors to celebrate art and artists as intrinsic to the local landscape and to engage New Orleans in unique ways. The next iteration—the fifth “Prospect New Orleans”—is P.5, on view from October 24, 2020, to January 24, 2021.

Drop in! This program is free. Seating is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis. A reception to meet the speakers follows the program.
