Maria Gaspar uses installation, sculpture, performance, community-engagement, and audio to examine contested sites and power and place within local geographies. Gaspar's talk will focus on her collaborative projects that engage community-based participation and generate community scholarship, such as 96 Acres (2012-Present) and City As Site (2010). Her ongoing research explores actions, performance art processes, and improvisational approaches within collective work that explore the social and political body through long-term processes.
