We are kicking off the 2012 Communograph Sidewalk Talks with “Entrepreneurship in the Third Ward” featuring key speakers Michelle Barnes and Jackie Miller of the Community Artists’ Collective and hosted by Artist Regina Agu

This discussion with Michelle Barnes and Jack…ie Miller of the Community Artists’ Collective http://thecollective.org/ will be about entrepreneurship in Third Ward and will focus on topics such as the history of entrepreneurship in Third Ward, the current challenges and opportunities, the links between entrepreneurship and sustainable/healthy communities, and the transfer of knowledge to the new generation of entrepreneurs.

Sidewalk Talks are a neighborhood conversation series taking place in front of the Communog…raph House twice a month, organized by the collaborating artists of the Communograph project and members of the surrounding community during Round 35.

The collaborating artists of the Communograph project include: Regina Agu, Lisa Harris, Journey Allen, Michael Kahlil Taylor, Rebecca Novak, and Ifeanyi “Res” Okoro II; each of whom helped to author the exhibition in the Communograph House, a research-based exhibition that includes each of their artworks. The Sidewalk Talks serve as a way to extend each artist’s research out onto the streets of the community, giving a platform to issues of critical importance to the Third Ward.

Communograph is a multi-platform art project, conceived and initiated by Ashley Hunt and organized in collaboration with residents of Houston’s Third Ward community, Project Row Houses, the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Center for the Arts, and students and faculty of the University of Houston’s School of Art.
