Five Evenings of Screenings Presented by Our Image Film and Arts

The following Saturday events will be presented in conjunction with Our Cultural Portal: Reclaiming Our Image (time and location TBA).

April 14: Short films will be presented by Our Image Film and Arts

May 5: Artist Lauren Kelley will present a short film and performance on the unfortunate power of negative imagery and media stereotypes, followed by an artist talk and discussion.

May 12: DJ Flash Gordon Parks will lead a discussion on Houston’s role in the music industry world-wide.

June 2: Our Image founders Monie Henderson and Marc Newsome will lead a town hall meeting, “Reclaiming Our Image” in which they invite audience discussion about the best methods and practices for working with the media to ensure non-stereotypical, honest, cutting-edge, thought-provoking depictions of Black and other ethnic communities.

June 23: Artist Lisa Harris will present a short film and performance, followed by an artist talk and discussion about gentrification.

Round 36 Begins This Weekend!

Seven new art installations will open to the public at Project Row Houses on Saturday, March 31, 2012, in the historic shotgun houses on Holman St. in Houston’s Third Ward.

Please join us Saturday from 4-7 for our opening celebration and block party.

Featuring work by artists Manuel Acevedo, Monie Henderson and Marc Newsome of Our Image Film and Arts, Kenyatta A.C. Hinkle, John Pluecker, Phillip Pyle II, Beth Secor, and Irvin Tepper, Round 36 continues Project Row Houses’ tradition of inviting a diverse group of artists to create site-specific works that help achieve PRH’s mission of using art to create community.

2012 Gala honoring Theola Petteway and Stuart Kensinger

On March 3, over 200 guests enjoyed an art auction, dinner, and dancing to the music of the legendary Diunna Greenleaf at PRH’s annual gala held in the historic Eldorado Ballroom.
