ArtTable Honors Influential Women in the Visual Arts

30th Anniversary Gala Benefit at MoMA
Project Row Houses Executive Director Linda Shearer to be honored

New York, NY—ArtTable, the national organization for professional women in the visual arts, celebrates 30 years of advancing women’s leadership with a weekend of high profile events in New York City, April 15-17, 2011, and recognizes leading women whose contributions have transformed the field of the visual arts.

Honorees for 2011 include Thelma Golden, Ruby Lerner, Lisa Phillips, Ann Philbin, Alanna Heiss, Anita Contini, and Linda Shearer among many others.

These art world luminaries will be honored at a Gala Benefit on Saturday, April 16 at the Museum of Modern Art, co-chaired by arts philanthropist and President Emerita of MoMA Agnes Gund, and Founder of Fundación Cisneros Patricia Phelps de Cisneros. We are pleased to announce that reknowned artist Jenny Holzer has created an award for our 30th Honors featuring one of her signature texts from the Survival series, and that 2010 Distinguished Service to the Visual Arts Awardee Yoko Ono will create an award for ArtTable’s Artist Honors. Additionally, as a gift to ArtTable and this year’s honorees, Jenny Holzer and Roger Schmid, who first collaborated with Helmut Lang at “Biennale di Firenze: Il Tempo e la Moda,” have developed a scent uniquely for the gala that celebrates femininity, success, and wildness. The scent, which will not be available commercially, was made with the support of Perfumer Frank Voelkl. ArtTable will also recognize artists and artist collectives who have had a transformative impact on the field at large. The Artist Honors will recognize A.I.R. Gallery, Judy Baca, Judith K. Brodsky, Guerrilla Girls, Joyce Kozloff, Amalia Mesa-Bains, Jaune Quick-to-See-Smith, Faith Ringgold, Miriam Schapiro, and Martha Wilson.
