States of Exchange

States of Exchangeis a participatory “exhibition” at labotanica in which artists of all backgrounds & disciplines (visual art, music, dance, literary, as well as disciplines beyond the arts such as scientists, architects, historians, etc.) can propose and develop new artistic collaborations with other artists. labotanica will mediate the process of collaboration and present an evolving installation in which artists’ profiles will be exhibited for potential collaborations; collaborative works will be developed in the space through conversations, art installations, and performance rehearsals; and completed works will be exhibited or presented throughout the duration of the “exhibition”. States of Exchange addresses the need to provide platforms and opportunities for local artists to dialogue, create, and present new works in Houston. The need for artistic incubation in the community, and how these artistic collaborations, or “states of exchange” activate us individually and as a community. labotanica will serve as a hub, incubator and facilitator for new artistic collaborations, and new artwork in Houston, Texas.
Artists interested in presenting, send a profile (which will be posted in labotanica) including a bio, 7 images of your art, a photo of yourself, email & phone, and a sentence stating what ways you are open to collaborating to la@labotanica.org
